I'm featured on the Southern Weddings Magazine & The Bride's Cafe blogs!

So it's obviously been a verrry long time since I have posted on my blog. See, we moved into our house last July and I decided to take a break from invitations to focus on cleaning, organizing, and decorating our house. Well, its a year later and most of those things aren't done! Over the past year, I have been involved in many major life events of some of my closest friends. My college friend and co-advertising graduate, Melissa, just got married in June at Haiku Mill (an amazing Maui backdrop for a wedding). She enlisted me to design her and her now husband's save the dates, wedding invites, as well as several of her wedding day paper goods. An honor no doubt! ...and then there was my best friend Erika, who soon after we moved into our house announced that she was pregnant! Needless to say, that was a baby shower months in the making - and SO much fun! I couldn't be happier for the Koehlers and the arrival of their precious baby boy, Keaton. ...and then just a few weeks ago, I was in my friends Cynthia's wedding in San Antonio at the Southwest School of Arts (another amazing backdrop)! Needless to say, it's been a busy, but fun, year!

In the midst of planning Erika's shower I got an email from a previous client of mine, Karla Mitchell of Kelley Cannon Events. She asked if I would like to help with an upcoming photo shoot that she and Kelley were putting together. My immediate response - heck yeah! What an honor to be considered for such an event! We immediately began working on an invitation suite to go along with their "rustic modern" theme. I knew from the get-go this was going to make me want to re-plan my own wedding. Kelley and Karla = AWESOME! Their ideas, execution, and professionalism are so amazing. Highly recommended! ...and if you want to check out the photo shoot as proof, click here.

All pictures were taken by Anne Robert Photography, styled by Kelley Cannon Events, and included real life husband and wife team from Rockstar Diaries. The gorgeous flowers were from Holly Chapple Flowers. Seriously, everything about this shoot makes me want to get married again. Thanks again to Kelley and Karla for including me! Southern Weddings is by far one of my favorite wedding blogs, so it's quite an honor to be included on their site.

*Update: I just received notification that the shoot has also posted on "The Bride's Cafe." Go here to check it out!

One of these days, I will get around to posting the projects I have done this past year. However, it may be a bit, because I'm now beginning work on that "break" I mentioned. ;-)

If you're wondering where I've been...

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

I've been piled under here - jk! Although it is a big part of the reason I haven't posted lately. This is my "craft room" right after we moved in, and I have to tell you, it looks worse instead of better now. I have a make shift desk right now that is the floor. :)

Some day hopefully soon this will actually be a room that inspires creativity. I definitely have some plans for it up my sleeve, including a makeover of a table I acquired via Craigslist. Thanks to all of the interior design blogs I've been reading lately, I'm anxious to begin my Social-o-logy room makeover! I just have to find the time first. :) ...but if you need some interior design ideas and/ or inspiration, I highly recommend the following blogs: Full House, Little Green Notebook, Cote de Texas, My Little Happy Place, La Dolce Vita, and LeSeur Interiors. There are MILLIONS of design blogs out there. These just happen to be my favorites at the moment.:) ...and on a side note, these people have probably never happened across Social-o-logy, so this is definitely not a planned/ paid promotion. I just think they're great at what they do!...and I love that most of them have ties to Texas!

I will however, shamelessly plug my sister. Check out her blog if you need a good laugh! The girl is nutty and I love 'er!

Another blog I highly recommend checking out is the blog for Kelley Cannon Events where you can see pics from the Allison Wonderland Shower I did accessories for. I will eventually get around to posting my own pictures of those products, but the pictures and the shower on Kelley's blog are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I am so happy I got to be a part of it - thanks, Karla! :)

Okay - off to get some more inspiration for this craft room of mine. I'm telling you design blogs are starting to rank up there with TCBY and John Mayer - who I get to see in less than a week - yippee!!! :)

Social-o-logy Update!

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Wow, seriously, where has this summer gone? How is it almost August?! …and how have I not posted anything since June?! I apologize for that! However, the “big thing going on the Jennings way” I mentioned in a previous post is that we moved!! Needless to say that has consumed my time these past couple of months. Sure I’ve moved before, but from apartment to apartment, not house to house. Moving houses is a whole other ballgame! Namely, because when I lived in apartments, I didn’t have anything. Thanks to all our wonderful friends, family and a wedding, we now do have stuff - more than when I was in an apartment anyway! ;-)

I could go on and on about the move. However, I must get on to the bad and/ or good news - depending on how you look at it! The news - I have officially decided to not take on any more custom work for now. I had plans of coming back from the move and charging design fees for custom projects. The more I sat and thought about it though and talked it over with my husband, we decided it might be best for me to just take a break from custom all together. My Etsy shop will have been in existence for a year on August 10th, and, ummm…, there is still nothing in it. I think the only way to make that happen is if I focus my efforts wholeheartedly on that along with finishing up the custom projects I have already started. The good news about that, I will eventually have ready-made designs for you to choose from! I’m very much looking forward to that and hope you will check out the shop once it’s up and running!!!

Note however that It may still be a few months before it is open, as part of my plan is to “stop and smell the roses” a little bit more! It’s my personality to always have a to-do list and to want to check those things off consistently. However, for my husband’s sake (and mine), I’m going to try to work on that! …meaning I’m going to force myself to not get all worked up when my shop isn’t open on the deadline I set for myself. Believe me, I would get worked up over that!

…and who knows, I may work on evolving my blog into something more than a display of my invitations as well. One step at a time though! I have a brain overflowing with thoughts and ideas which is what gets me in trouble to begin with!!

I do thank all of you for checking out my blog and if I have done custom work for you, thank you for allowing me to work with you!!! I absolutely LOVE custom work and if I didn’t work a full time job along with running Social-o-logy, I would definitely continue down that path! For now though, I’m going to leave the path open…

Thanks again for the support!

P.S. I still have a few projects I haven’t posted. I promise to eventually get to those!

Also, if you see something that I have previously done that you would like to purchase for your event, feel free to contact me! I will gladly make any of my existing products fit your needs – meaning, I can easily change names, dates, etc.

It's A Boy!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

I have been wanting to make circle invites for some time now. I love experimenting with different shapes and styles of invites! This invitation was made for my best friend's sister-in-law, who is expecting a baby boy. :) I was so glad when Angee agreed to let me make these for the shower! They fit perfectly in an aqua square envelope that matched the rattle on the invite. I also made return labels for Angee that used the same rattle.

Pictures of the banner and stickers to come! ...I just want to wait until after the shower, so they can be a surprise for everyone attending. You guys have so much fun and congratulations, Lorie!

Blog Award!

Friday, June 18, 2010

Okay, okay, so it came from my sister, but it’s still an honor! I’m so lucky to have family and friends that are so supportive of me and my endeavors. My sister is one of my biggest fans, as am I one of hers. Seriously, if there is anyone that can put a smile on my face when I’m having a bad day, it’s her. The girl is absolutely, 100%, crazy, cuckoo, wacky, nutty you name it, it describes her! …and I absolutely mean that in a good way. If you need a smile put on your face, check out her blog – you’re sure to leave with hurting cheeks. I seriously don’t know where she comes up with this stuff!!!

On a side note, don’t you like her new blog design? It was created by Dumplin Design Studio, who also created mine! Great job, Shay!!
