It's A Boy!

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

I have been wanting to make circle invites for some time now. I love experimenting with different shapes and styles of invites! This invitation was made for my best friend's sister-in-law, who is expecting a baby boy. :) I was so glad when Angee agreed to let me make these for the shower! They fit perfectly in an aqua square envelope that matched the rattle on the invite. I also made return labels for Angee that used the same rattle.

Pictures of the banner and stickers to come! ...I just want to wait until after the shower, so they can be a surprise for everyone attending. You guys have so much fun and congratulations, Lorie!

Blog Award!

Friday, June 18, 2010

Okay, okay, so it came from my sister, but it’s still an honor! I’m so lucky to have family and friends that are so supportive of me and my endeavors. My sister is one of my biggest fans, as am I one of hers. Seriously, if there is anyone that can put a smile on my face when I’m having a bad day, it’s her. The girl is absolutely, 100%, crazy, cuckoo, wacky, nutty you name it, it describes her! …and I absolutely mean that in a good way. If you need a smile put on your face, check out her blog – you’re sure to leave with hurting cheeks. I seriously don’t know where she comes up with this stuff!!!

On a side note, don’t you like her new blog design? It was created by Dumplin Design Studio, who also created mine! Great job, Shay!!

Bottles, Bibs & Crawfish - The Shower!

Thursday, June 17, 2010

So if you remember a couple of months back, I created the invitation pictured here for a baby shower/ crawfish boil. Junae, the hostess, was nice enough to share these photos from the actual shower. (Thanks, Junae)!

I absolutely LOVE that cake! Made by It's A Piece of Cake right here in Houston! Basically she turned my invitation into a cake – talent, pure talent! …and pure awesomeness to see my invitation turned into a cake! The banner and cupcake toppers were made by me to coordinate with the invite. :)

Thanks again, Junae for allowing me to be a part of your sister’s baby shower! I still think this is one awesome baby shower idea!

The Birthday Party - Littlest Pet Shop!

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

How cute is the birthday girl?! I love this picture and that cake! I'm always amazed by people who can decorate cakes. That is definitely a creative talent that passed me by!
Mady's 5th birthday was celebrated with a pool party in her backyard. ...I have to admit, I was always jealous of those people with summer birthdays. There just aren't many fun things you can do like that in January! ...but I'm glad Mady gets to reap the benefits of a May birthday! :)
To help decorate the backyard and set the tone for the party, Social-o-logy created a banner, centerpieces, food tags, and favor tags. Her mom had the outfit made - SO cute. It even has a ruffle around the ankle - almost like bell bottoms! I must find out who made the outfit and the cake to be able to pass on to all of you San Antonians! :)

Unfortunately, I can't sell most of these images, so I have plans to change this invitation and accessories to a Parisian theme. Can't you see a black poodle, or something along those lines in place of the Littlest Pet Shop character?!

Happy 5th birthday, Mady!!

Alice in Wonderland Bridal Shower - Sneak Peak!

Monday, June 14, 2010

If I haven’t told you, I've had some amazing clients! I love that I get to meet all kinds of new people via Social-o-logy. I woke up this morning to find that Social-o-logy had been mentioned on the blog for Kelley Cannon Events via a recent client of mine, Karla Mitchell. Karla lives in Washington DC and works for Kelley (who by the way creates amazing events)! ...I seriously love this industry and how many wonderful people there are. Thanks so much for the press, Kelley!

Click here to check out Kelley and crew’s work, and here to check out the post. Kelley shares how to create awesome idea boards like this one created by Karla.

…and in case you’re wondering, the items in the top right and top left hand corners are products of Social-o-logy. :) Karla is hosting an Alice in Wonderland themed bridal shower and Social-o-logy created all of the “accessories!”

More pics to come!

Mady is 5!

Saturday, June 12, 2010

It has only taken me well over a month to post these photos, but I'm finally getting around to Mady's birthday party invitation! Mady Kate holds a very special place in my heart as she was the flower girl in our wedding, She is my best friend's niece and is like family to me. Needless to say I was thrilled to complete this project!

If you remember sometime back, I mentioned I was working on another "character" party. This was the one! Mady is a big fan of Littlest Pet Shop, so that was her theme of choice. Instead of going with the traditional royal blue associated with Littlest Pet Shop though, we opted for hot pink, pastel pink, black, & white. Basically we put our own spin on things! :) I also made this a 2-sided invitation, so either way you turn it, Mady was greeted with birthday wishes! Here are the pics...

Please stay tuned for the party "accessories" that were created to match the invite! I'll be posting those as soon as I can! :)

Social-o-logy Town Hall Meeting :)

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

...okay, so not really a meeting. I just feel like I have completely neglected my blog these past few weeks and thought I would make it sound really important so you would want to read. :) The lack of posts is definitely not because I don't have new projects to post. It's exactly the opposite. I have been b-u-s-y!! ...and loving every second! Please bear with me as I get all of my new projects posted - it may take a bit!

I also wanted to let everyone know that I will be taking a break from design work for at least the next month. (Big things are going on the Jennings way that will occupy most of my time these next several weeks). I will be back though, so please keep checking. Heck, it may take a month to get all of my new projects posted!! :).

...and if you do have an event coming up and invitations can wait until July or later, please feel free to contact me at any time! It's never too early to get ideas rolling. I just may not be able to get you design options right away.

One other thing I should also mention is that design fees will be put into affect when I'm back to business. :) I have waived them for these first several months, but I'm quickly realizing how time consuming custom work can be. ...No worries though, the fees won't be through the roof! :) For those of you that I have worked with over the past several months, thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing me to build my portfolio through your events!

In addition to custom work, I am also going to be working on a variety of "standard" invitations to post on my Etsy site. It has been sitting there lonely and sad for months now!

...and for the complete random part of this post, here is a pic of my husband, me, and my in-laws painted on the wall of our favorite sushi restaurant. I think you know you eat at a restaurant too much when they paint your picture on the wall!! I really love the idea though - SO creative! The owners weren't sure what kind of art to get for the wall, so they had an artist paint caricatures of their regular customers. Let me tell you, it is very strange to walk in and see your face staring back at you! :)
