Welcome to Social-o-logy Invitations and Design - a business born out of an absolute obsession with weddings and special events! :)
At Social-o-logy, our goal is to help make your "Life's Biggest Moment" ones to remember. Whether its an invitation, an announcement, or simply a gift tag, we want to provide you with a unique product that will be remembered for years to come!
A little bit about Lisa...
My name is Lisa Jennings and I am the owner and lead designer. A native Texan, I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2001 with a degree in advertising. From there, I moved to New York City to pursue my career and fulfill my big city dreams. I loved each and every second of living in the "Big Apple" and wouldn't trade it for the world! However, upon the birth of my first nephew in October 2004, I decided it was time to move home to my family and Houston. ...and it's definitely a decision I don't regret! I met my husband Jay in August of 2006 and we were married in April 2009.
It's him and our wedding that I have to thank for helping me bring Social-o-logy to life! :) Like many brides, I pondered, planned, and executed what I considered to be my perfect wedding day. You can ask him - I ate, drank, and slept our wedding! ...and aside from the torrential downpour that forced our planned outdoor wedding inside, it was everything I thought it would be. However, when I found myself searching wedding blogs and websites long after our wedding was over, I knew I had an obsession! It's also how I knew I wanted to start an invitation and design business. I figured if I could no longer create things for my own wedding, I could help others by creating things for theirs, or other life events. After all, life is full of many, many celebrations!
So come on in and take a look around! We'd love to work with you and are here to customize an existing design or bring a new idea to life!
We welcome you to Social-o-logy!
Christiana's Bachelorette Travel Pack - Part Uno!
Sunday, February 14, 2010
...So let me tell you that I am oh so excited about this project! Christiana was our wedding coordinator at Courtyard on St. James and she did an AMAZING job! I definitely have her to thank for making our wedding a success in the midst of a torrential downpour. ...so needless to say, when her sister contacted me to put together a "Bachelorette Travel Pack" for her, I jumped on the opportunity! Anything I can do to help the girl that saved our wedding day, I'm all about it!
Christiana will be getting married April 2, 2010 at Courtyard on St. James. I can only imagine how beautiful her wedding will be!
...but before the big day, she will enjoy a bachelorette weekend in Austin, TX. ...I created Boarding Pass Invites for the event. :)
My favorite part of these invites is the response card. We wanted to do something that was different than just an email or phone RSVP, so the RSVP card will be torn off from the ticket - just as if a flight attendant was tearing the ticket before boarding a plane! The right side of the card is perforated and fits into the smaller response envelope.
Note that this is only part uno... There is more to come!!! :)
Happy Valentines Day!!!
Saturday, February 13, 2010
...so I had intentions of making Valentines cards to send to all of my friends and family, but I'm not quite sure where the month of February has gone!! I did however spend some time in the kitchen yesterday baking Valentines cookies! (Behind card making, baking is my second favorite hobby). :)
My husband, Jay, was so sweet to have flowers delivered to me at work this past week. ...I always want to send him something, but I just don't know how flowers would go over in an office full of guys! ...so I opted to bake him heart-shaped Snickerdoodles instead. I think he liked them slightly better than flowers. ;-)
...but let me tell you, heart-shaped Snickerdoodles aren't the easiest thing to make. They don't have the same consistency as sugar cookies, so you can't just put a cookie cutter in them and be done with it. I sat here filling each cutter with dough and then carefully removing it. ...hence why they're not perfect hearts. ...but mmmm, they taste good!!! I would highly recommend the Martha Stewart Snickerdoodle recipe! I would also recommend the "Silpat" - the orange thing the cookies are on - and the insulated cookie sheet from Williams Sonoma. I have my sister and my in-laws to thank for both of those!! ...and let me tell you, they make a world of difference. The "Silpat" keeps cookies from sticking to the cookie sheet and the insulated cookie sheet helps to make the cookies super fluffy! (I'll get off my advertising spiel now)!
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!
Introducing Mack Wallace Dunn!
Saturday, February 6, 2010
My latest project... Welcoming Baby Mack Wallace Dunn into this world! I felt completely honored when his mom, Gina Dunn, contacted me to make his baby announcements. After all, this is the first introduction of Mack that many of his friends and family will receive. He is such a precious little guy and an amazing blessing to his family.
...and his mom, well she's an amazing artist! You can check out her work here. I can only imagine how she must inspire her children, because she inspires me with her creative talents and the ability to balance family with running her own art studio/ Etsy business. I look forward to learning a thing or two from her! :)
Congratulations, Gina, Craig, Annabella, and Callum!
